Safe Workplace

Safety is our No. 1 Priority

Protecting the safety of every Clean Harbors employee, every visitor to our facility and all of our neighbours is our No. 1 priority.

At Lambton, our waste treatment processes incorporate closed- and controlled-loop systems to prevent adverse health and environmental effects. For example, many feed and processing vessels include nitrogen blanketing, vent filtration and fume incineration systems. Surface water on the Lambton site is also collected and treated by incineration or through a water treatment system.

Measuring and testing processes and procedures against regulatory requirements and Clean Harbors performance standards are also important components of Lambton facility's safe operations. Our on-site chemists and technicians analyze process feed stocks and residues on an ongoing basis to confirm that our waste management systems are operating safely and efficiently. Their efforts are complemented by the work of independent and government environmental specialists, who monitor ambient air, water, and soil conditions in and around the facility. In-house and third-party audits of all aspects of operation regularly measure the facility's ability to meet its goals with respect to health, safety and environmental protection.

Preparing for operational upsets, regardless of their likelihood, is another important element of Clean Harbors' safe operations practice. The Lambton facility's first-response team is ready around the clock, prepared to respond to emergencies in any section of the facility. In addition, Lambton is part of the Chemical Valley Emergency Coordinating Organization, a local industry-municipal mutual aid group.
