Clean Harbors earns multiple awards for veteran-friendly practices

Veteran-Friendly-Award-December-2025

As we prepare to close out 2025, Clean Harbors celebrates two additional awards for its veteran-friendly employee practices.

The company has once again earned a spot on the Military Times Best for Vets list. Clean Harbors earned the designation for the first time last year, and this year it placed 133 on the list out of the 245 employers that made the list (up from the 172 spot last year).

The full 2025 Best for Vets list, which is published in conjunction with MilitaryTimes.com, can be found here.

Rankings for the Best for Vets list are based on a rigorous, voluntary survey that assesses companies on their policies, practices, and benefits for veterans and their families. Clean Harbors earned recognition for its meaningful outreach to the military community, its commitment to flexibility for those balancing service-related needs, and its supportive leave and benefit programs designed to help veterans thrive in their civilian careers.

The survey captures the areas of greatest importance to transitioning service members, veterans and their families when evaluating potential employers. Emphasis is placed on recruitment and employment practices, alongside retention and support programs. Military Times’ data experts objectively analyzed each company’s submission, ensuring that results reflect a thorough and impartial assessment.

Military Friendly employer

The company has also earned Silver Designation status as a Military Friendly employer again this year.

The Military Friendly designation, which is awarded through VIQTORY media, measures an organization’s commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the military community.

Over 1,500 organizations compete annually for Military Friendly designation, with only roughly one-fifth of that number achieving the status.

The Military Friendly designation falls under six categories, including recruiting and sourcing, policies and compliance, support and retention, culture and commitment, opportunity and advancement, and hiring and onboarding. Clean Harbors met 100% of the standards across all six metrics, exceeding standards in approximately 25%.

“As a proud Marine Corps veteran and as the leader of our Military & Early Talent Recruiting Programs, these recognitions are especially meaningful,” said Lou Candiello. “They reflect the intentional work happening across Clean Harbors to create real opportunities for those who have served. We’re incredibly proud to see our commitment acknowledged again this year, but even more proud of the inclusive culture we’re building – one where veterans, transitioning service members, and military families feel valued, supported, and empowered. At Clean Harbors, we don’t just recruit military talent – we invest in their long-term growth and success.”
