Providing Comprehensive Environmental Services for North America
Local weather conditions can have a significant impact on the Lambton Facility. Gusts of wind, for example, can alter the path of the stack plume, potentially leading to short-term odour at ground level.
At Lambton, we want to counteract the effects of weather on the plume. To do that, we are working with the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) to understand when, and by how much, to adjust the facility's operations.
UWO's state-of-the-art wind tunnel study of Lambton is helping the facility develop new, real-time plume pattern forecasting. With a better understanding of how weather conditions affect plume behavior, incinerator operators will be able to adjust the system more effectively and consistently to avoid plume down-draughts and minimize odor.
